Visiting Professor Melissa B.Jacoby, George R. Ward Professor of Law University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will review new research on how financially distressed patients deal with out-of-pocket medical bills and the implications for their health care providers.  The lecture will feature findings from two current empirical studies that shed light on the impact of medical bills on people who file for bankruptcy, and will consider how this work might inform health care finance, consumer credit regulation, and bankruptcy law.
